Who the Hell's Who?
A Short Guide to the People I Quote and Talk About Most
Ronald is a friend I met in college. He used to sit by me during English Communication class. He went on his leave of absence sometime July. He’s leaving for the United States soon. He’s an artist, a writer, a musician, and a poet. (Go figure). He speaks in pure English even when everyone starts speaking in Filipino. Yeah, he’s pretty eccentric. Just like everyone I know, really.
Ayu is also a friend I met in college. We usually just speak online, but we’re starting to talk in class too. Usually during Chemistry and Sociology, when we’re both flabbergasted at what the professor is saying anyway. She’s incredibly nice, pretty and brilliant. She can get a bit on the farout side of things sometimes (“look, Cholo, I can suck air!”), but that’s just part of her charm.
Ysa is my best friend. We also met in college. She’s weird, loud, inconsiderate and borderline crazy. Like me. She usually brings me around Manila, because I don’t usually get out of the house when I was in high school. She’s rich enough to pay for everything. We usually get stared at when we go to malls, since she speaks absolutely loudly (me too, actually) and our dialogue is usually filled with profanities.
Kevin is also my best friend. We’ve been friends since second-grade. Being friends as long as we have, we know each other well enough to speak for each other (and most of the time we do). We get into trouble together, and, usually, we show our worst selves to each other without fear of getting judged. He sings better than most pop stars today. He’s part of a famous choir here in the Philippines.
Moku is weird.
Tricia is another friend I met in college. We sit by each other during Math Appreciation. We grieve together when our professor speaks Mathenese. She also has this way of turning every conversation into a long string of jokes. I really like her. She’s innocent in that oh-my-god-you’re-not-afterall kind of way.
Momma R is my momma.
Dada Vader is my dad.
